| Título do trabalho | Test Smells in Dart projects: an empirical study and a validated catalog proposal |
| Resumo do trabalho | The growing adoption of the Dart language, especially in Flutter application development, highlights the importance of high-quality testing. However, the presence of test smells, patterns in test code that indicate issues with maintainability, readability, and effectiveness, can compromise quality, impacting the software’s evolution and reliability. Although extensively studied in other languages, a significant gap remains in the literature regarding the manifestation and treatment of test smells within the Dart ecosystem. This dissertation proposal aims to address this gap through a comprehensive empirical study and the construction of a validated catalog of test smells specific to the Dart language. The methodology involves an in-depth theoretical investigation of testing practices and Dart’s characteristics, an initial mapping of potential smells in gray literature, and a detailed empirical analysis of open-source projects developed in Dart/Flutter to identify and classify recurring patterns. The work proposes a systematic catalog of test smells, including the name, definition, practical examples, potential impacts, and code transformation strategies aimed at addressing these smells. The catalog will be validated through expert participation and its application to real projects, exploring the potential of existing and emerging static analysis tools for detection. This research is expected to yield a comprehensive catalog of test smells for Dart, providing valuable input for the future development of automated detection tools. |
